Kevin Hanley was born in Providence, RI on September 11, 1949. He attended the Cranston School System until he left in 1967. Kevin played youth baseball, football and hockey in the Edgewood section of Cranston. Kevin left high school in 1967 to enlist in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was trained at Parris Island, S.C and Ft. La June, N.C before being deployed in Quang Nam Province in April, 1968, S Vietnam He remained in Quang Tri until receiving what would be a fatal injury due to ground artillery on August 30, 1968. Marine Private First Class Kevin Hanley died of his injuries on September 17, 1968.
As we remember our fallen brother and friend, we always remain mindful of the 28,272 other young men and women who lost their lives in the Vietnam conflict. Our sense of loss is shared by so many others to this day. We are also mindful of the men and woman who sirvived the Vietnam conflict .
